Sold capacities - standard products - overview

FCFS, Unbundled Capacities (SY2012/2013)

FCFS capacities for storage year 2012/2013
The excess capacities from the auctions 27 March 2012 are offered as first come first served for storage year 2012/2013. The sales will begin 28 March 2012 at 09:00 hrs.

• 117,000,000 kWh firm volume capacity (FCFS 1) (edit: sold out)
• 315,000 kWh/h firm injection capacity (FCFS 2) (edit: 315.000 kWh/h left)
• 800,000 kWh/h firm withdrawal capacity (FCFS 3) (edit: 600.000 kWh/h left)

The three products are available as offered in auctions 27 March 2012. The prices are set equal to the starting prices from these auctions. Capacity order procedure applies.

FCFS, Unbundled Capacities (SY2011/2012)

FCFS capacities for storage year 2011/2012 
The excess capacities from the auctions 13 April 2011 are now offered as first come first served for storage year 2011/2012:

• Total firm volume capacity: 50,000,000 kWh (edit: sold out) 
• Total firm injection capacity: 239,000 kWh/h (edit: 239,000 kWh/h left)
• Total firm withdrawal capacity: 135,000 kWh/h (edit: 70,000 kWh/h left)

The capacity is available as:

• EITHER the three standard products as offered in auctions 13 April 2011. The prices are set equal to the starting prices from these auctions. Capacity order procedure applies
• OR as negotiated products. Capacity request procedure applies

Auctions, March 2012

Unbundled storage capacities (firm volume capacity, firm unbundled injection capacity and firm withdrawal capacity) for the coming storage year 2012/2013 are offered at three simultanious auctions to be held 27 March 2012 at 10:00 hrs:

• 241,000,000 kWh firm volume capacity (1 May 2012 - 30 Apr 2013)
• 400,000 kWh/h firm injection capacity (1 May 2012 - 30 Apr 2013)
• 900,000 kWh/h firm withdrawal capacity (1 May 2012 - 30 Apr 2013)

Auction outcome

All three auctions closed after the first bidding round:

• 124,000,000 kWh out of 241,000,000 kWh unbundled volume capacity was sold at the starting price of 0.03 DKK/kWh
• 85,000 kWh/h out of 400,000 kWh/h unbundled injection capacity was sold at the starting price of 6.00 DKK/kWh/h
• 100,000 kWh/h out of 900,000 kWh/h unbundled withdrawal capacity was sold at the starting price of 3.00 DKK/kWh/h

Surplus capacity

The surplus capacites are sold in accordance with FCFS. The SBUs are available via Self-service. 

Auctions, January 2012

Three different storage products are offered at two auctions to be held 16 January 2012:

One product auction at 10:00 hrs.

• 800 low flex SBUs (1 May 2012 – 30 April 2014 / 30 April 2015 / 30 April 2016) 

Two product auction with switching at 14:00 hrs.

• 1,240 low flex SBUs (1 May 2012 – 30 April 2013)
• 450 high flex SBUs (1 May 2012 – 30 April 2013)

Auction result

640 multi-year low flex SBUs were sold in the first auction. All 1,240 one-year low flex SBUs were sold in the second auction at a clearing price of 0.0352 DKK/kWh. 240 one-year high flex SBUs were sold in the second auction.

Surplus capacity

The surplus SBUs are sold in accordance with FCFS. The SBUs are available via Self-service. 

FCFS, October 2011

DONG Storage has offered Standard Bundled Units (SBUs) in an auction for the Storage Period 1 May 2012 to 30 April 2013. Not all SBUs were sold at the auction and the surplus SBUs are now being offered on a first come first served (FCFS) basis (see details regarding the SBU below).

Storage players interested in buying the surplus SBUs must do so by logging onto the self-service on DONG Storage’s website. On the self-service one can choose “FCFS” on the left-hand menu and submit a Capacity Order to DONG Storage.

DONG Storage accepts Capacity Orders received in the period 12 October 2011 at 12:00 hrs. till 31 October 2011 at 12:00 hrs. and 14 December 2011 10:00 hrs. till 19 December 15:00 hrs. Capacity Orders received before or after the specified time period will not be accepted. DONG Storage shall immediately upon receipt of a Capacity Order register an order confirmation with acceptance of the Capacity Order on the storage player's self-service. The order confirmation shall be binding for the storage customer, and a Storage Contract shall be regarded as concluded when DONG Storage has registered the order confirmation on the customer self-service. The result of the order confirmation will be incorporated into a Storage Contract and e-mailed to the storage customer's contact for Contracts and Transfers. The storage customer shall return a signed copy of the Storage Contract in PDF-format by e-mail.

FCFS outcome

432 SBUs were sold in the FCFS between 12 October 2011 12:00 – 31 October 2011 12:00. 150 SBUs were sold in the FCFS between 14 December 2011 10:00 – 19 December 2011 15:00.

Four different SBUs are offered in three auctions to be held in October 2011:

• 1,000 medium flex SBUs (1 May 2012 – 30 April 2013) – auction 11 October 2011 
• 360 low flex SBUs (1 May 2012 – 30 April 2015) – auction with switching 13 October 2011
• 440 low flex SBUs (1 May 2012 – 30 April 2016) – auction with switching 13 October 2011
• 440 low flex SBUs (1 May 2013 – 30 April 2018) – auction 26 October 2011

Auctions, April 2011

DONG Storage will offer three storage products at auctions to be held simultanously on Wednesday 13 April 2011 at 10:00 hrs. The three products consist of a high flex SBU, unbundled injection capacity, and unbundled withdrawal capacity. All products cover the storage period 1 May 2011 - 30 April 2012.

Auction, February 2011

Auction for SBUs in storage year 2011/2012
DONG Storage will offer two storage products at an auction to be held on Monday 7 February 2011 at 10:00 hrs. The two Standard Bundled Units (SBUs) offered differentiate in terms of flexibility but cover identical storage periods (1 May 2011 - 30 April 2012). The auction will be held as one auction with a switching opportunity between the two SBUs.

Auction, January 2011

Auction for long-term storage capacity products

DONG Storage will offer two long term storage products at an auction to be held on Tuesday 18 January 2011 at 10:00 hrs. The storage products offered are (identical) Standard Bundled Units (SBUs) with different storage periods of five-years and ten-years, respectively. Both products will have storage periods starting on 1 May 2012.

DONG Storage A/S (DONG Storage) offers 123,000,000 kWh as Standard Bundled Units (SBUs) at an auction held on Thursday 24 June 2010 at 10:00 hrs. The capacity is offered for the Storage Period 1 July 2010 at 06:00 hrs. to 1 May 2011 at 06:00 hrs. at a reservation price of 0,037 DKK/kWh corresponding to 37,000 DKK per SBU.

The storage player must be registered as a storage customer in the Register of Players and have entered into a Framework Contract with DONG Storage in order to participate in the auction.

Auction results (unbundled capacities)

Both unbundled capacity auctions closed after the first bidding round. Participants have been allocated capacity according to their bids and to the starting price of 8 DKK/kWh/h for firm injection capacity and 4 DKK/kWh/h for firm withdrawal capacity. 22,300 kWh/h of injection capacity and 14,600 kWh/h of withdrawal capacity have been allocated. The excess unbundled capacities will be offered to the market according to the FCFS procedure. The announcement is available here .

Tender, November 2009

DONG Storage is selling firm withdrawal capacity in an Offer. Capacity Orders relating to the Tender must be received by DONG Storage no later than 25 November 2009, 09:00 hrs .

Auction result

On 5 March 2009, DONG Storage held an auction of storage capacity. 733 standard bundled units (SBUs) were auctioned off, each comprising 1,000,000 kWh with injection and withdrawal capacity (120/60 days). The participants were only permitted to bid for a maximum of 513 SBUs. A starting price of DKK 38,000/SBU/storage year was set prior to the auction. The auction was carried out as an ascending price clock auction. All 733 SBUs were allocated after five bidding rounds, the closing price being DKK 45,101/SBU/storage year.
Participants who have been allocated SBUs could choose contract periods between 1 and 5 years.
